55 - Prada Marfa

Alone on a dusty highway,
miles from any consumer,
let alone one in the market
for expensive shoes.

As a store, it would be useless,
forever in the red,
soon torn down to make
a parking lot.

But as a monument to consumer folly,
Prada Marfa compels,
and tourists beat a path to its door.

They stole the shoes? Talk about taking consumerism to the extreme. Should have made them of clay.

Ha. The vandalism is what makes it real, I suppose. I can't believe they spent the money on this and spend the money on security for those stupid shoes…

Thanks for educating me how stupid some artists are…

Not to mention, it is an eyesore in what looks to me to be a beautiful Texas style landscape.
