Ballerina Down

This was how I imagined myself:

we all have fantasies

I did my first double pirouette,
and I was the only one
to easily execute
the new sequence:
pas de bourrée,
chassé (twice),
pas jeté en arrière.

But it was that side jeté
point your toes
that did me in.

One wrong landing
turns graceful ballerina
into hunched lady with a cane.

Note: Full recovery estimated at twelve weeks. I can do non-weight bearing activities anytime it doesn't hurt.

This was written for Magpie Tales.

Yow! You are so well-versed in ballerina-speak, it makes the poem leap. I hope you mend well.

yes, there is always that one move...except, lately, it seems more like only one I can accomplish, and all the others hurt. :)

One never knows when an accident could befall. You captured this well and turned it into 'your' story...you must dance! Speedy recovery that "ballerina" is soon "back on her toes!"

@Alice: Almost. It was jazz dance, not ballet, but I take both...or rather, I did. Doctor probably won't clear me to return until January of February.

Bummer. I hope you mend soon. It's not fun to be a wall flower.

i can relate.. the injuries are the worst, how fast they can take away the joy and how long it may take to mend them, if at all.
