Game-Changer

You gave me a new rule book,
saying:
  • read it carefully
  • live it
  • breathe it
  • treat it like your Bible.

Now should I abandon
(quickly)
(just like that)
all that came before?

Change the rules
Change my life

I hold on tightly
to my fear
of mistaking you once again.

Words,
and yet more words,
but action limps behind
at a distance,
disconnected,
edges not matching up
instead of hugging tightly
to each other,
as I once did to you.

This is a Three Word Wednesday post.

Yep, been here. It's confusing, confounding, and confuzzling. You've captured it perfectly. Sometimes, I think you're expressing what I couldn't. And I really hope this isn't drawn from real life.

Rules mean a lack of trust. Love is liking a person as they are with all their faults. There are subtle ways to change the one you love.

It's amazing now many guys out there think it's their job to remodel their lovers. The stereotype is girls do it, but seems to me it's the guys.
