Long ribbon of road ahead.
Miles before our next stop.
Alone in a lonely land
with only hares,
hawks,
the wind's sigh,
and the sounds of
Jimi
Janis
Johnny
Jerry
Voices of the dead
beamed by a satellite
that winks in the velvet sky above;
one more diamond
among constellations,
but always traveling,
just like us,
sending our quota
of song.
This is a Sunday Scribblings post.

When I read this in my minds eye I was driving at night and the feeling was real and somehow restful as the ghosts of the past whisked past the windows in the barely visible terrain.
January 26, 2013 at 10:00 PMsome how those voices past seem a little creepy rather than company for the journey!
January 27, 2013 at 2:55 AMMaybe a song..a story makes for a perfect travelling companion..something is left..to keep driving..moving forward..i guess all satellites are tethered to something we must find..
January 27, 2013 at 5:07 AMHow we love our satellite radio service too, especially remembering the old days of frantically dialing stations on a journey as one after another would fade out with distance. I love the variety of stations available, and just as you note, our favorites are always right there close at hand! A fun tribute to a valued subscription!
January 27, 2013 at 10:03 AMVery nice flow eliciting stirring memories in so few words. Thank you. Enjoyed it.

January 27, 2013 at 1:28 PMLoved this. Reminds me of nights driving alone, my old battered Volvo, no A/C, windows down, stars ahead and behind. Beautifully realized, Ann! Amy

Gotta have the tunes. But frankly, I don't use the satellite. I use the mp3 player. :)
