Flood

It starts with just a trickle,
sweet,
deceptive.
One more drop
won't make a difference
to empty pots,
parched fields,
thirsty hearts
needing sustenance
after a long drought.

Drip by innocent drip
you seduce me
with your promise.
Take me
past the shallows.
Make me
trust the current.

Without a chart to guide me,
I'll submerge
antediluvian fears.
I will be master
of these waters,
(plotting my course
across dark tides)
until the deluge
pulls me under
and I drown.

This is a Sunday Scribblings post.

Everything starts with that flirst drip..sometimes it takes charge..in the wrong way..makes it impossible to navigate even calm waters..I love the openness of this piece..that within it we can find the thing that has led us into deep waters..Jae

Life saving and life taking, the flood of water pays no mind to thanks or pleas, it just is. A powerful write.

I've been drenched in those promises too, until I learned to chart my own course. So far, I have avoided drowning. Nice poem.

I'm not sure if we're talking rain or seduction, but either way, this sucks me and asks to be hung on my wall with your other one that's already there.
