Limbo

It would be a bitter pill
(bigger pill)
to have to swallow
if it all came down the same way
as before.

But though I’ve made some stumbles
(foolish fumbles)
sighs and grumbles,
still I’ve stayed the course,
put in the effort
done my time,
and tried not to be laid too low
by worry.

Uncertain future is my lot
and so I try again,
coached with buoyant words
(glorious to my ears)
that make me smile
and dream awhile
but not believe.

This was written for Three Word Wednesday.

it's terrible not to think things that are not bad will never change. I'm lucky that I have optimist in my genes.

Sounds like once bitten twice shy. Good for you as I am amazed at the ease others continue to make the same mistake more than once.

So hopeful until the last line. A grain of salt might not be a bad thing.

It may not be smooth going but one's resolve can well make the difference. Wonderful lines Ann!
