Devolve

Now we all evolve,
devolve,
transform into
the Other.

Looking high,
seeking low,
water finds its level.

(eventually)

Oh, don’t stand there
adjudicating
calculating
feigning innocence
you’ve never known.
Sober as a judge.
Judge me not.
Judge my words
(not deeds)
for though my actions fail me,
and reach exceeds my grasp
and efforts sometimes come to naught,
my words reveal
what’s true.

This was written for Three Word Wednesday.

Yes indeed...words are the trickiest place to hide the truth...those who know see right through each syllable

Can more wisdom can come from a writers pen than by his/her actions? Truth is such an elusive animal it loves hiding.

Very intriguing wordplay, the way the poem does seem to devolve into and out of itself. Great Job!

Intentionally? Or do we have to read between the lines to get at the truth?

I knew a judge. Drank far too much.
