Unsafe at Any Speed

No, you cannot drive my car
all over the city,
crazy,
naughty,
every which–way,
with me in the back seat
pale,
sweating,
barely holding on
while you run up over curbs,
speed wrong-way past warning signs,
then stop
where you should go.

Instead
I would stay safely parked,
douse the engine’s fire with milk
and sip sweet cream
while keys jingle
in my pocket.
Safe.

No, you cannot drive my brain today.
I’m basking in the car park
eating strawberries,
too busy for your ride.

Don’t even offer directions.

This is a Three Word Wednesday post.

Finding the soothing milk to quell the burning engine to be in control and enjoy those strawberries..that sounds like the best..

I like the imagery; for the keys to be jingling in your pocket, it gives you the assurance that you can go anywhere, if and when you want. kudos to you for taking control. life already hands us so much that's beyond our control anyway, why put our life's direction in someone else's hands?

If only there were more that make the right decision. Strawberries are so much better than hospital food and a wrecked car.

Sometimes it is the best thing just to say NO!

Sounds a bit like there's a teenager in the house.
